In a world where many now communicate by text-messaging, we have become very accustomed to abbreviating our world of facts and concepts to their barest of symbols and meanings. Even Christians have long grown accustomed to referring to the wondrous work of Christ and His Holy Spirit in the redemption of lost sinners as simply “getting saved” or “being born again”.
But Scripture does not abbreviate this concept. Rather, it unpacks it for us in marvelously full and meaningful language that makes our new life in Christ come alive and gives us a real and living hope for what lies ahead in our future.
In teaching this series, I followed the outline of the Westminster Shorter Catechism, which not only provided an excellent guide bur has proven faithful to the fullness of Scripture’s revelation of this precious doctrine.
